Story Notes:
Requested by Othercat on LJ.
1. He can play the guitar. They find out one night when John's still in the infirmary recovering from the retrovirus. He's mostly not-blue anymore, but his hands are still strange and only partially human, and he keeps them under the blankets most of the time.

Teyla is sitting on the bed next to John's, and Rodney has taken up residence in a chair in between them, and when Ronon comes in with a guitar John at first thinks it's his, that maybe Ronon brought it for him from his quarters. But then Ronon sits next to Teyla, guitar positioned against his chest, and tells him that on of the Marines leant it to him. Before John and Rodney can finish exchanging a horrified look, Ronon starts playing.

Playing decently, in fact, and the melodies he strums are nothing like what John's used to. They should sound atonal and discordant, and maybe they do, but it works in some way, and Ronon's fingers are sure and steady, and John knows he's gaping only a little less than Rodney is.

When Ronon's hands still, finally, he shrugs at their looks. "We had something similar on Sateda." He arches a brow and cradles the guitar again. "More?"

2. He's helpless when faced with teary-eyed science geeks in labcoats, which is why he was persuaded to conspire with the chemical engineers during the last quarterly training session (commonly called the Grunts Versus Geeks Games). He won or lost against odds, and it was done subtly and deftly enough that no one realized it until Rodney saw the incriminating names and dollar amounts listed in the betting book (which is officially frowned upon but unofficially always contains bets from all of the senior staff, Elizabeth and Sheppard included).

3. He's been learning how to cook. Every Wednesday night he goes to the mess hall and gets lessons from the cook. The team finds out after he prepares the day's breakfast, which lands half the expedition in the infirmary with food poisoning.

Turns out it was because of improper storage of the root vegetable they traded for on MX4-218, which reaches its fermentation point far sooner than the potato it resembles.

4. He spends a lot of time in the infirmary with Beckett. Initially Beckett was studying Ronon's physiology because of the way Ronon mentioned that the Wraith who captured him made a face when it was about to feed on him. That lead to a dead end, but Ronon continued to show up at the infirmary twice a week, and Beckett started scheduling his breaks around the visits.

Ronon knows more about Scotland than anyone in the Pegasus galaxy has a right to know, and Beckett knows more about Satedan hospitals than anyone from Earth (though he doesn't know how Ronon knows about it). The team finds out on their way to Sateda to rescue Ronon, after Rodney demands to know why the hell Beckett's so concerned about Ronon.

5. He likes the water around Atlantis, and he wants a boat. He mentions it in passing at a meal one night, and after he finishes eating and leaves for a training session, Teyla asks if it can't be managed, and John and Rodney start planning approaches for Elizabeth, and workarounds in case those don't work.
